Chiming In – 3 for 3

Just pretend that this single post is not really one single post, but rewind to 3 days ago… read the first one, pause, fast forward to Day 2, and then pause again and fast forward to Day 3. There.

Day 1

One week from today a new journey will begin

For today a chapter of my life came to an end

As I walked away from almost 8 years at NPU

I’m walking into my purpose, my calling, my something new

All kinds of emotions are invading my heart and mind

But it’s okay because I know it’s my season, it’s my time

I may be sad to leave behind so many friends and family

But if I don’t let go there will be no way to reach my destiny

It’s not a “goodbye” but it’s an “I’ll see you real soon”

Next time as a butterfly who’s come outside her cocoon

I’m keeping my eyes on the prize of what’s waiting for me

And I refuse to get distracted by what was never meant to be

When the enemy tries to steal my focus with pebbles in the road

I remind myself of the word of God and the promises I hold

What the Lord has for me, is for me, it is for me

And at any moment what I prayed for, I am guaranteed to see

I am guaranteed to prosper, in every area I will win

Because one week from today a new journey will begin

Day 2

As the night draws near

I can only say thank You

For all the love shown

(Yes… that’s a Haiku)

Day 3

Instead of writing a poem for this one, I want to write a little bit about the first two. The first poem is about the new journey that I am on. Three days ago, I left my job as the Assistant Registrar at North Park University here in Chicago. I’ll be leaving for Memphis, Tennessee this Friday to start a teaching residency. This will be my first time leaving home. I am stepping out on faith and believe that I am following the path that God has laid out for me. I am excited, but nervous at the same time. I don’t know what all God has in store for me, but I know that it’s going to be great and I can’t wait to see it all unfold. The second poem is a simple thank you. Yesterday I had a farewell lunch and a dinner with a few former classmates. All day, I was surrounded by family and friends. I felt so much love that it reminded me of how truly blessed I really am. And for that, I just wanted to say thank you.
